ENTER THE PLUNGE POOL.
The plunge pool has seen rapid growth in interest and demand.
With space in backyards becoming harder to find, and also trying to size a pool to fit between house footings, retaining walls and boundary fences etc. The plunge pool has become a very popular option.
SOME OF THE FREQUENT QUESTIONS WE RECEIVE ABOUT PLUNGE POOLS ARE:
- What is a fibreglass plunge pool?
- What sizes are available for a fibreglass plunge pool?
- What does a fibreglass plunge pool cost?
WHAT IS A FIBREGLASS PLUNGE POOL?
There is no technical definition of a plunge pool – however, they are generally classed as a pool that is somewhat restricted for swimming laps.
A Plunge Pool can be also be considered a small pool that allows you to cool off or just plunge into the water, not suitable to swim laps in as such.
WHAT SIZE ARE AVAILABLE FOR A FIBREGLASS PLUNGE POOL?
Any pool 6m or under would be considered a plunge pool.
Our 4.8m, 5m and 6m versions are our top three popular plunge sizes.
Though they are considered smaller than the more popular ‘30 x 12 foot’ or ‘8m x 4m’ family size pool, the plunge pool is still a play pool, It is also a family pool.
Customers have said to us ‘it is amazing, Our Plunge Pool is still large enough for doing bombs, somersaults and endless fun and games.
We’ve had 6 kids in our Plunge Pool and it keeps them playing for hours.
WHAT DOES A FIBREGLASS PLUNGE POOL COST?
There is a bit of a misconception around Plunge Pools, that because it is only a small pool it must be a lot less money to install – right?
Unfortunately, if you only have a tight space, The limited or tricky access can add more to the price of a pool project.
The digging time, the administration cost for permits, the actual installation on site is only marginally less regardless if your pool is 5m or 9m.
The plunge pool range is not that different in average pool price projects than their 8m family pool.
Lastly, the way the pool is installed also determines its price. Inground plunge pool will be usually cheaper to install than putting a plunge pool partially or completely above the ground.
ADDITIONS FOR THE PLUNGE POOL
As laps aren’t an option in a standard plunge pool where you do not even need to mess your haircut, some people choose to ‘up-spec’ their plunge pool up with spa features like Spa jets and Air blowers AND exercise machines.
Swim jets for example. These allow you to swim against high flowing water, this one feature can add $3,000 – $7,000 onto a project cost easily depending on systems chosen.
Air Blowers will recreate the traditional spa pool feel, masses of air bubbles injected into the water providing a truly relaxing sensation.
Another very popular addition, to all pools really, is the VANTAGE in-floor circulation and cleaning system.
Some say “if it is only a small pool why would you need to make the pool self-cleaning?”
There are a couple of reasons for this, often the pool is positioned within view from the house, such as the kitchen window or feature window looking out to the pool, hence visually it is part of the house view and needs to be clean.
No one wants to look out the window at a dirty pool with leaves.
Many customers also choose to heat their pool, to extend the swim season even further.
The VANTAGE in-floor system allows the heated water to enter the pool through the floor, This makes the pool heat up time quicker and more economically, as well as an even water temperature from floor to surface.
Not to mention the savings provided in running costs and chemical demands.
