WHAT IS A LAP POOL?
One of the most common questions we get asked is “ We are thinking of getting a Lap Pool, but how long is a LAP POOL?
A Lap Pool is usually considered a long slender pool, just imagine a pool designed narrowly, to swim laps only, however, a Lap Pool doesn’t have to be a specific width or length.
The Compass pool range offers fibreglass Lap Pools which we call our Fast Lane Series. We have two set Fast Lane sizes, a 10m x 2.5m and a 12m x 2.5m.
We also have the option to customize the length of our Fast Lane up to 30m long.
A Compass Lap Pool can be customised to suit any site in length with the technology available at Compass Pools Australia. We can even link together 2 or 3 shells to created our a specified length.
HOW LONG ARE LAP POOLS?
A typical school swimming pool is 25m, which is half the length of an Olympic sized swimming pool.
At Inspire Pools, we would consider a Lap Pool any pool that is considerably narrower than its length. For some, they consider one to be at least 10 or 14m, whereas some only require 6m or 8m. There is no real standard.
HOW WIDE ARE LAP POOLS?
Our Lap Pools are 2.5m (internal) minimum in width, we would suggest this is the minimum required for lap swimming. Our Fast Lane pools are 2.8m (external) 2.5m (internal), this width provides a comfortable space to perform a normal stroke without feeling confined.
HOW DEEP ARE LAP POOLS?
Our Fast Lane series all have a flat bottom, and they are 1.5m deep.
This depth is still deep enough to provide for family fun, all the jumping and splashing the kids can handle. This depth is adequate to punch put serious strokes and safe enough to allow you to stand safely.
HOW MUCH DO LAP POOLS COST?
The cost of a standard Lap Pool is like any other fibreglass swimming pool. All pool prices are site-specific and depending on additions to the pool package.
If you were to consider a customised Fast Lane pool (the process of joining together 2 or even 3 Fast lanes with our Link Technology, the price would typically begin at $85,000.
When building a Lap Pool over 12m meters the cost does increases quite considerably. Long Lap Pools are one of the more expensive types of pools you can build.
